Bio

Georgia has been my home for over 25 years and together with my husband we have raised 2 daughters, a son, and 3 dogs.  I brought with me a Northerner’s love for snow days off school, an exposure to the big city and an internal compass of the lake is always east.  I graduated with a BA in Marketing from the University of Denver eons ago and brought from the West a laid-back attitude and love of the mountains and an afternoon rain storm. These things always creep into my artwork.

In all my years, I have never been without the paint, the clay and the paper.  I played with ceramics, sewing, beading and collaging all through school.  After visiting art galleries in Carmel, CA on vacation I decided it was time to take painting more seriously. I then took the leap into oil and acrylic painting with a mentor for 3 years.  About 10 years ago I discovered encaustic painting and I was hooked.

Using encaustic techniques allows me to express my life joys as mixed media abstracts, textured florals, and abstract landscapes.  I tend not to stick to one genre for long but my color palettes, my love of textures and affinity towards nature are a constant.  Beeswax allows me to embed objects, collage papers, and paint all at once while playing with a blowtorch.  It’s very addictive.  I always return to telling stories of the people I love, experiences I’ve lived and the precious memories I want to preserve.
